I'm sorry this is a book but I read a ton of reviews and still bought this chair so I wanna be descriptive for if you keep reading after the next sentence. I'm 5'3 and this chair is ridiculously small. I read all the reviews that said would be ideal for short people. Reviews said seat is slender, arms are low, and their feet extended past the footrest. Thought maybe it would be perfect for my short self, and be the end of behind-the-knee pressure causing numb lower legs. Nope! My feet don't just "extend past" in the way this could mislead you to think means "barely". My ankles are 3 inches beyond the farthest reach of footrest. Should be called a calf-rest. But the pressure at edge, plus a large rope-like seam, causes my feet to not only go numb-ish, it causes discomfort. Seat is hard, so same for butt and thighs. If I don't use the footrest, my feet do fit flat on floor but hard edge and large seam cause the back of knee problem. Using footrest is the least painful method but my lower calves and feet literally ache after 45 minutes. I have to get up and walk around frequently. Armrests are so low, I have to hunch my shoulders and slouch my back to use them. THERE IS NO WAY TO SIT COMFORTABLY IN THIS CHAIR. Plus, I read a review that a lady fell while getting up (or sitting down?) because chair tipped on her. I haven't fallen yet but I've come close more than once. You have to be mindful each time if you leave the footrest out, don't auto-pilot. Ok, finally for the good. This chair would be perfect for pre-teen studying/gaming chair. Or for spare chairs in a corner of a media room. When you can lean back a little, it is way better. Or use it on other side of your desk for visitors/meetings. It looks great and is solid. It was also easy to assemble. The best part of this chair is that it must fit my mid and lower back perfectly. Zero pain there, even after working full day.The chair leans farther back than expected for the back and neck support. I had to use a pillow to support my upper back and neck. The lever to adjust the back of the chair is as far as it can go to have the back of the chair in a forward position. The armrests are very low and not adjustable to lower and higher for the extra support for my neck and shoulders, causing more pain. When sitting back in the chair, my feet do not lay flat on the floor, causing them to hang and go numb. There were two bolts missing that go into the armrests for the back of the chair. I had to purchase these bolts. I would like to return this chair chair but the shipping box it came in was recycled. Can I still return this chair in a new shipping box? I would appreciate a response back to this review. The only issues with this chair so for with me is. The arm rests sit to low. And they are non adjustable. And because I am over 6 foot tall. The cushion on the top of the back rest sit to low and hits me in the shoulder. Instead of under my head. What I had to do to get them raised the arm rests up. So they were comfortable for me was. To get four - 4" long pieces of 6 mm x 1.0 threaded rod. Eight- 6mm x 1.0 nuts and spacers to place between the arm rests and the tubes that they are mount to. To raise them up I used stacks of 1/4" washers. That raised them up so they are high enough for me now. And to me, this modification doesn't change the look of the chair aesthetically. As far as the placement of the cushion on the back rest. I end up placing a piece of foam below it so it doesn't hit me in the shoulders when I lean against the back rest.PS I took a picture of the modification I made to the arm rest. But I can't seem to get it to down load. This is a comfortable chair, and I have enjoyed it very much. I like to watch movies and listen to music on my computer while reclining. At first I was doubtful about the chair when we first opened the packaging, but I am pleased with it now. It was easy to put together, but things didn't work exactly right when the leg rest stuck halfway down. That's because I was pulling all the levers and not following instructions. My husband, being the handyman he is, said that it only needed adjusting. He was so right. He adjusted it, and now it works just fine. I needed to know how to operate the levers to raise and lower the leg rest, recline and raise and lower the chair. The leg rest can be manually pulled further out; however, the extension only goes as far as my ankles. I am 5' 6" tall. We tried a name brand chair in a store which reclined but didn't have a leg rest at all. I notice there aren't many reclining computer chairs. The instructions is the problem with this chair. There needs to be a more thorough and clearer set of instructions. I worried at first as the chair has a chemical smell, but it dissipates after a couple of weeks. I'd say if you purchase this chair, be sure you have a handyman in case you need adjustments.Overall, the chair is fairly well-made, for the price. However, since the footrest drifts down upon reclining, it is not very comfortable when used in this position. I contacted the manufacturer, and was told that this problem was a known defect and there have been many complaints. I was offered a refund or replacement. I will opt for refund, since after further inspection of product, there simply is no mechanism on chair to enable the footrest to lock. Gotta go thumbs down on this..............Folks, I have a fix for the footrest sink problem: Go to an auto parts store, I went to NAPA, and purchase a foot of 5/8ths diameter hard plastic airbrake tubing. Then, using a pair of tin snips, cut it to a length of 3 1/4 inches. Lastly, cut a notch lengthwise. To use: after extending footrest, simply snap plastic tubing between piston and plastic bushing under chair. This will keep footrest from sinking. Make sure you remember to remove plastic sleeve before folding footrest down. Hope this helps you.Assembly instructions are simple and on one page. Difficulty is similar or slightly more compared to IKEA furniture. One of the end caps on the arms was overhanging, creating a sharp edge that I cut my knuckle on during assembly. Other reviews are correct - the chair is designed for people with a smaller body frame. I'm 5'4 and as soon as I sat in the chair it felt right.Latch on the left lets you adjust the angle for the leg bend. Forward handle on the right allows you to recline or reset the recline. Back handle on the right adjusts seat height.I look forward to falling asleep in this chair.Generally this is disappointing. The arms are far too low to be comfortable. The mechanism to recline the chair us stiff mad manual settings. The foot rest must be pulled out manually and is far too short for my legs. I am five - eight.I bought this chair as I have bone disease in the hips and thought it might help relieve pain from desk work, but it has created new pain in the neck because of the design. I use it but switch it out. I would not recommend. This is a good chair. Easy to assemble. Comfy. Reclines to about 45 degrees. The leg rest will support your legs if you are quite short, or alternatively it is somewhere to put your feet. A bit wobbly, but I don't mind. Not many of these out there, and this one's alright.Great Chair, very comfortable.Great
