The chairs arrived well packaged and intact of any dents and scratches. Assembly took me about 30 mins. The holes are pre-drilled and are located under the velvet flaps that have velcro that make it easy to access and hide them at the same time. I had a little trouble with the last step as the pre-drilled holes were a little stubborn but nothing a hammer couldn't fix. I purchased the red chair. It is more of a reddish raspberry color. Also, the seat cushion is not overly comfortable but they look and feel very durable.
