My husband and I are getting old enough that we get tired taking showers, so we bought this so we can sit. The padded seat is very nice but needs to be warmed up before sitting on it, something that I'd imagine you would have to do with any bathtub bench. The bench itself is very sturdy. The company claims that the seat holds up to 500 lbs. but when you get to the end of the assembly instructions it says it's not meant to sit on, only to transfer. We are normal size people and just sit on it while we shower without it feeling wobbly. Since 2 legs sit outside of the tub, managing our shower curtain is awkward but we have not had any leaks. We don't use the back rest because we don't need it, so I can't comment on its comfort. What is unavoidable is that the size of the bench makes it hard to clean our 1-piece shower/tub. I use one of those white cleaning sponges and sit while I clean the front of the tub and lean on the bench to clean the back.I just had back surgery and my wife bought this to make getting in the shower much easier.This chair is a bit flimsy. The plastic covering has already started to crack open and it stains really easy. You can tell this is a cheap product. It works - but could be so much better.Disapointed, is not overely sturdy, removal of bucket quite aqward, hinge on seat does not hold firmly does no last, mine actually cracked, the instructions were not very good and the photo were so grainy you could not see items that were written. The padded seat did not like as the seat sticks and lifts away when you stand.Works well especially in the shower.This is a very sturdy bench. I purchased it because the area where the commode is located allows easy access to clean my private areas & there's no need to stand up so I feel much safer. I would recommend using a towel on the bench though because once the cushioned bench gets wet it can easily pull the skin & is very uncomfortable. I would buy this again & may get another for my other bathroom.I had a friend zip tie the seat in place so now it seems to be good.Shower
